The Fine Arts Department

Music is more than just a course taught at North Love Christian School. Colossians 3:16 instructs
us, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
Music is to be one of the core instructional vehicles of truth used in the life of the child of God. God has designed us as emotional creatures to be deeply influenced by music. It is only logical, therefore, to deduce that music can be significantly influential in helping shape our values and core beliefs.

The music classes at North Love Christian School are designed to acquaint our students with Godly,
Christ-honoring music. In our music classes the students are subjected to music that is purposely
set apart from that which is considered worldly – The world’s music expressed as an alluring,
eclectic mix of all its warped values. The ultimate goal of our music department is summed up in a
quote from J.S. Bach, “Music’s only purpose should be the glory of God…”

Elementary Music Program

Kids love to sing! Every class from K-4 and up enthusiastically lifts its young voices in song, as
they are encouraged to sing together. So many practical lessons are taught by learning to sing
together. Statistics have regularly proven that music greatly encourages mental cognitive reasoning
at an early age.Opportunities to use the musical skills developed include concerts throughout the year and
occasional special events. Beginning in 4th grade, students may participate in our annual IACS
Elementary Academic and Fine Arts Tournament. Vocal and instrumental solos, groups, and choirs
perform before qualified judges and receive evaluation sheets at the conclusion.

Jr. and Sr. High Music Program

Music training continues throughout graduation at North Love Christian School. The Jr. High and Sr.
High have separate choirs with repertoire greatly expanding for the older students. Voice
development and ear training become the fundamental issues addressed in these choirs. We provide age
appropriate music to adjust for and challenge the maturing voices.

Opportunities to perform are found in weekly chapel services, concerts, and the annual IACS Academic
and Fine Arts Tournament. Students are frequently encouraged to exercise their talents in church
services or through their youth departments.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
